The story of Worthen started in 1975, with two Virginia craftsmen who shared a passion for restoring antique beds. After years of working on vintage pieces, the two men noticed a concerning trend: the antique beds they encountered were of lackluster quality and offered limited designs. They set out to create their own heirloom-quality beds, founding Brass Beds of Virginia. Their mission: to create custom beds with uncompromised attention to detail, quality, and elegance.
Since then, throughout our half century history, our company’s original core values have remained. While our name has changed to Worthen to reflect our expanded offerings, we still handcraft every bed in Richmond, Virginia. And you can still sense our founders’ unwavering dedication to quality and design in every Worthen piece.
Thanks to the talents of our in-house artisans, each Worthen piece is a true work of art. Every one of our craftsmen has a hand in creating each product, and they demand the highest standards from themselves and one another.
With a combined experience of more than 200 years among our crew, this creative team is able to offer both the old and the new, guided largely by the expertise of craftsmen, many of whom have been with us for 30 years or longer.
At Worthen, our team still honors the time-tested techniques of our founders. Every step of our process is truly personal. Our traditional crafting, exclusive castings, and array of finishes guarantee that each piece is authentically unique. With decades of experience in the high end furniture industry, our entire team ensures that each piece receives the eagerness and attention it deserves, from the first phone call to final shipping.
At Worthen, our devotion to our craft is only paralleled by our devotion to your satisfaction. That is why we offer an heirloom guarantee, which means your piece is guaranteed to last for your lifetime and the lifetime of your heirs.
